Oh, Instagram likes. Do they matter that much to your overall goals anymore, or should you focus on other things than the pesky number of people who are double tapping your photo? Instagram sure thinks you should be looking at other things which is why they added the feature of being able to hide likes on your photo. Hiding likes on your Instagram posts is easy to do, reversible, and can seriously help you stop worrying about numbers so much if you’re too focused on them. Here’s how to hide your Instagram likes and start focusing on creating content that you actually like and want to share.

How to hide likes on Instagram

If you’re looking to hide your Instagram like count so only you can see how many people have clicked the heart next to your content, it’s super easy to do:
hide instagram likes
  1. Go to your profile and hit the hamburger menu in the right-hand corner.
  2. Click “Settings”
  3. Click “Privacy” and then “Posts”
  4. At the top, you’ll see “Hide Like and View Counts.” You can switch that on or off, depending on if you want the likes to be seen or not.

How to hide likes on individual Instagram posts

Not wanting to turn off likes for your entire Instagram feed but for a specific photo? You can absolutely do that!
  1. Create a post as you normally would.
  2. On the final screen when you’re writing your caption and adding your location and hashtags, scroll to the bottom where it says “Advanced Settings.”
  3. On this page, you can toggle the “Hide like and view counts on this post” so no one can see the number of likes you get on that specific post.

Already posted and want to hide the number of likes you got? No problem! All you have to do is:
  1. Tap the three dots in the corner of the screen above the post
  2. From the pop-up menu, click “Hide like count”
It really is that easy and gives you peace of mind if you keep frantically checking the number of likes you’ve gotten on a certain post. Trust us, we know what that’s like and it’s not fun!

Does hiding your likes on Instagram lower engagement?

Nope! All it does is hide the actual number of likes you get from users. Instagram still tracks the number of likes (which you can see!) and helps Instagram track what’s doing well and when to push it within the algorithm.
