What is an Instagram carousel post?

Quite simply, it is a feed post on Instagram where you can post up to 10 photos or videos (or a combo!) that followers can swipe through.
Not surprising, but Instagram carousel sizes are the same as regular feed posts (would be a weird flex if it wasn’t!). However, the first photo that you select in your carousel will dictate the size of the rest of the images—so make sure that the images are uniform in size.

How to create an Instagram carousel post

So you want to create a carousel post? Carousel posts are perfect for brands who want to show off multiple photos or videos of a new product; or for those of us (hi, me) who want to show off a variety of different angles of their new ‘fit.
However, creating a carousel post is a little bit of a different process when it comes to a standard post. To create a carousel, these are the steps to follow:
  1. Open your Instagram app and create a new post.
  2. In the bottom right corner of the “New Post” screen, click the stacked image icon.
  3. Select up to 10 images or videos! Make sure they are in the order you want them to be in when selecting.
  4. Click “next.”
  5. Swipe through to make sure the images and videos are all there and you can edit within the app if needed.
  6. Write your caption and add any tags you want and need to the post.
  7. Click “share.”
