  1. What does it mean to get verified on TikTok? 🤔

What does it mean to get verified on TikTok? 🤔

Alright, what actually does it mean to be verified on TikTok? TikTok verification is when TikTok verifies your identity and lets users know that the account belongs to the person they say it belongs to.
One of the best reasons to get verified on TikTok is if you are a well-known person or brand, people know exactly which one is the real account vs. any phony accounts that might be trying to scam people.

How many followers do you need to get verified on TikTok? 📲

When it comes to getting verified on TikTok, the number of followers you have doesn’t matter. You can have 20 followers or 1.5 million followers, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to get the checkmark that you want.
TikTok’s biggest reason for verifying an account is checking for authenticity and not caring about tracking the number of people that follow you.

Can you buy TikTok verification? 💸

One of the biggest questions we see a lot is whether or not you can buy TikTok verification. This is a big hard “NO WAY!” Attempting to buy TikTok verification from a third party can get your account banned and shut down, which would suck.
A lot.

Why get verified on TikTok? ✅

Having a verified account helps with a lot of things, mainly showcasing that you are who you say you are online (which is v important!). There are a few reasons why you want to be verified on TikTok:
  • Establishes your authority. It is an official endorsement from TikTok establishing you as a trusted person or brand.
  • Proves you’re authentic. You are who you say you are! And TikTok knows that.
  • Exposes you to new people and followers. This is one of the biggest reasons why people want to be verified! You’ll end up in search results that will help you get new followers quickly.
  • Shows your trustworthiness. What can we say? Having that verified checkmark makes you more trustworthy and brands and businesses want to work with you and other content creators want to collaborate with you.

How to get verified on TikTok? 🤷

Outside of being a major celebrity, there aren’t a whole lot of shortcuts to being verified on TikTok. However, if you’re looking for the best way to get that blue checkmark, here are some of our top tips on getting verified.

1. Create consistent content

One of the best ways to get verified is to create content consistently. While you don’t have control over whether or not your content will go viral, you can control how much content you’re making that has the chance to go viral!
How can you make better quality content?
  • Use better video equipment
  • Use viral sounds
  • Pay attention to details in your video

2. Go viral

Okay, yes this is easier said than done, but going viral on TikTok can be HUGE for you. Going viral can lead to thousands of people looking at your profile and new followers overnight.

3. Get verified on another social platform

While you can’t apply for verification on TikTok, you can apply for verification on other platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
Each one of the platforms has its own set of qualifications to go viral like:
  • Facebook will verify accounts that are professional, official representations of a brand or person.
  • Twitter verified active accounts that fall under a variety of different categories.
  • Instagram is one of the hardest social media channels to get verified on. Learn how to get verified on Instagram here.
Want to get verified? Get talked about in the media. Either locally or nationally, being highlighted in the press is always a great way to get TikTok to recognize that your account is worth the blue checkmark!

5. Work with influencers

Are there any influencers on TikTok that you can easily work with? Collaboration is a great way for you to get your face in front of a bigger audience, get more followers, and potentially get in front of TikTok’s verification committee.
Browse your favorite influencers that would be interested in working with others and/or have a similar niche and audience to you. Create a list and start reaching out to them about a collaboration.

6. Follow TikTok’s community guidelines

This is incredibly important and seems like a “no, duh!” But you must follow the rules! Having videos taken down for violating community guidelines isn’t the one, and TikTok will notice. And that magical blue checkmark you want so bad? It’ll never show up.

Can TikTok remove verification?

They can! TikTok has removed the blue verified badge for people and there are a couple reasons why. And yes, they can remove it at any time and without notice.
Some reasons why you can get your badge removed include:
  1. The account was found to be transferred to another owner making verification inauthentic.
  2. The username changed so the account owner needs to re-apply for verification.
  3. The account type changed between business, personal, or institution.
They may also remove verification from accounts that are found to be in severe or repeated violation of TikTok’s Terms of Service.
