New! Search for Reels using Hashtags
Instagram released a new feature that we are in love with—a tab for Reels when you search for hashtags!

As we scrolled around on Instagram this morning and looked at hashtags, a new exciting feature popped up when clicking on a hashtag: A tab for Reels!
Similar to the feature in TikTok (as Instagram continues to try and compete with TikTok), when you search for hashtags or click on a certain hashtag, there are now three tabs to choose from—Top, Recent, and Reels. When Instagram said they’re pushing video content, they mean it.
We hope this new move means that more Reels insights are on the way and tracking hashtag ranking on Reels becomes a thing very, very soon.
How to Search for Reels on Instagram using Hashtags
Now that you can search for Reels based on hashtags, how do you do so?
- Tap the search icon at the bottom of the screen and search for a topic or hashtag you want to see Reels for
- When the page loads, you’ll see three tabs at the top of the screen. Click the “Reels” tab.
- From here, you’ll see all the Reels using that particular hashtag.
How to Search for Reels by an Audio or Effect
You can also search for Reels by clicking on the audio or effect a certain Reel uses. At the bottom left-hand corner of the screen, you’ll see an audio icon with information about the audio or effect being used in the Reel. Once you click on the audio or effect, it’ll bring up every single Reel that is currently using the same thing.
If you click on audio, you can actually save the audio and use it on a future Reel. This is especially important if you’re going to be using a song that is currently trending on Instagram to help you reach more people and have the potential to go viral.
